Junior members, or Nippers as they are widely known, form the most crucial part of any surf life saving club. These members, aged from 5 to 13, are the future lifesavers of Australia, in training today. While they don't learn to paddle a rescue board and resuscitate someone in the water, or learn to drive the IRB, they do learn valuable surf safety skills and knowledge of first aid, and general beach sense, all the while keeping fit and having fun.

Like the senior members, Nippers also compete at carnivals against other clubs, and learn the skills needed to paddle boards, swim in surf, as well as important beach skills.

Nippers train during the summer months under the watchful eye of accredited Age Group Managers, who have been subject to Police Clearance checks and are endorsed by the Management Committee of the club to participate in running and organising the junior section. The North Haven Surf Life Saving Club fully supports the Surf Life Saving SA developed 'NipperSafe' program.

For more information on Nippers, please feel free to email our Junior Coordinator, who will be more than happy to answer any questions you many have.
